Have also just read a gut wrenching account of the murder of Steve Jenkins in Minneapolis, and although the circumstances of the cases are very different, I couldnt help being struck by how Steves parents reacted to his disappearance and death in comparison to the McCann`s and how Steves Mother talked about not changing clothes and underwear in the early days of the search, and how the family lost 50lbs in weight collectively because they just could not stomach food. Their pain is so palpable and distressing to read, I couldnt help comparing it to how little I was moved by Kates account and how phoney it sounded. I found their conduct totally innatural for loving parents. I feel that the dinner friends who supported their alibi, did so in the genuinely believe that the child was abducted, but found it too late to withdraw their statements when the abduction tale was discredited. without risking careers and reputation if not legal action. I know all too well that justice for the silent victim is not always achieved when status and influence are used to conceal the truth . I do not like being told what I can and can't read (Amaral's book, Tony Bennett's leaflet etc), and especially not by two people who didn't even think their children were worth the price of a babysitter. Now they are trying to grasp monies from Amaral for speaking the truth, since when can the truth from Police Files be regarded as libellous? Is their next move suing the Portuguese Judiciary? Money seems to be very important to McCann and his awful wife - again, a shame that they could not have spent a few Euros on a babysitter. If all this litigation is an attempt to wipe out any chance of those poor twins one day finding out that there is more to the "abduction" theory, then they are sadly mistaken. Just wait till those poor twins get to secondary school, I really feel sorry for them. Will the McCanns try and sue children in the playground who speak the truth to Sean and Amelie?
